If we don't know what you're doing we have been expected to kill both drives attempting the controller swap.

Firstly - how did the expostulate die, and what firmware was it running? If it has bricked since of the firmware problems there is the most easier approach to fix the expostulate which is distant more expected to be successful. A discerning Google poke should move we up the process - it involves the cheap eBay phone serial wire & the little modding, though seems comparatively simple to perform (no guarantees though - not done it myself).
