If we do not know what you're doing we have been expected to kill both drives attempting the controller swap.

Firstly - how did the drive die, and what firmware was it running? If it has bricked since of the firmware problems there is the much simpler way to repair the drive that is distant some-more expected to be successful. A quick Google search should move we up the process - it involves the cheap eBay phone serial wire & the small modding, but seems relatively elementary to perform (no guarantees though - not finished it myself).
